We're looking for a summer engineering intern


Diesel Labs is a Content Strategy company that has developed AI-fueled technology designed to identify audience content preferences across all formats and channels. These insights give media decision makers an edge throughout the content development and distribution process.

Diesel is made up of several senior members of Bluefin Labs, a social TV analytics company that exited in 2013 via acquisition by Twitter. Diesel was awarded an innovation grant from the National Science Foundation in 2016 and has recently raised a seed round of fundraising. This is a great opportunity to join an experienced team entering a hot market at an early stage of the company.


~ Prior experience working with AWS or similar cloud providers

~ Ability to work independently and with remote collaborators

~ Experience with Machine Learning and/or Collaborative filtering models a plus

~ Strong communication skills

~ Able to learn new technologies quickly - not afraid to ask questions

~ Experience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and relational database

~ Student working towards an Engineering Degree preferably Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering


~ Communicate estimates, designs and work plans to Diesel team and work collaboratively to come up with the best solution for the given constraints

~ Maintain good software engineering practices such as unit testing, performing code review and participating in knowledge and responsibility sharing sessions

~ Strong, object-oriented design and coding skills (Scala and/or Java preferably on a UNIX or Linux platform)

~ Server and client side development

~ Detail oriented, sense of urgency and follow through on assigned tasks

~ Strong problem solving skills (troubleshooting software problems)

~ Opportunity to be among first engineers at an early stage startup

~ Scala server side and Javascript (react) frontend. Open to the best technology for the problem

~ Deploy to AWS using Docker containers and Cloud Formation

~ Data and machine learning pipeline is built on Spark

~ All remote team with co-working space near Downtown Crossing

~ Looking to build a culture of autonomy where engineers are encouraged to own problems end to end, develop specializations and share ownership
